Our Team
We are two working international teachers who have spent eleven years researching and developing strategies for educators and students to be able to develop and enhance their programs to organically incorporate room for students taking the lead. We do not claim to know everything. We work on the ground every day with our students and we believe in the power of giving them a voice in authentic and meaningful ways. We offer affordable, down to earth programs to work in collaboration with learning communities: students, teachers and schools.
Kate Sorrell
Founder, Generation Lead
Kate grew up in a busy multicultural city in England and has been in education for over 15 years. After teaching in France and the UK, she moved to international schools and is currently a learning leader for multilingualism and student leadership coordinator in an IB world in Romania.
Kate’s extensive experience in education, in both the public and private sector, has focused on coaching and mentoring, with a focus on student leadership, advocacy and voice. She is passionate about creating space for transformational learning and is honoured to be working with her colleague and friend of 11 years, Andrey, to co-found Generation Lead.
She holds a Masters in Innovation in leadership, is a trained instructional coach and a big believer in the power of empowering students.
Andrey Kavun
Founder, Generation Lead
Andrey was born and raised in the capital of Central Asian republic of Uzbekistan – Tashkent. From his early years, he saw the value of teamwork first hand through his passion for basketball. His leadership in sport helped him pursue his basketball dream of becoming a National Team player.
Andrey has over 10 years of experience in International Education. He is an accredited athletic administrator and experienced IB educator. In the role of Athletic Director, Andrey was a strong advocate for student voice and focused on providing equal opportunities for students and student-athletes to be empowered by voice and action.
Together with his friend and co-founder Kate, Andrey is currently working in an IB world school as a Physical and Health Education teacher, Grade Level Leader, and Student council coordinator.
With the launch of Generation Lead project, Andrey aims to support educators and students to enhance their leadership capacity and expand international community network of student and teacher leaders
